Linnansaari National Park + Oravi Canal Village

Set off to discover the stunning archipelago nature and the historic cultural landscape of Linnansaari National Park. On the excursion, you will get to see the Oravi Canal village and experience a memorable boat taxi ride to Linnansaari. On Linnansaari, you can explore the island’s trails and have a picnic, for example at Linnavuori or Sammakkoniemi fireplaces. The island also has a small kiosk where you can buy snacks, refreshments, ice cream, or even a souvenir. The island has two accessible routes as well as longer, more challenging trails. You can explore the traditional landscape via the Torppa Trail, which starts from Sammakkoniemi. Saimaa’s most famous resident, the Saimaa ringed seal, thrives in this area, and with a bit of luck, you might see this whiskered creature enjoying a summer day.
Departure from Savonlinna city center, from where we drive to the idyllic Oravi canal village. From Oravi, we transfer by boat taxi to Linnansaari National Park, where you can enjoy self-guided hiking for approximately 2 hours. The boat taxi departs from Linnansaari back to Oravi at 1:00 PM In Oravi, there is an option for lunch at Restaurant Ruukinranta. Return from Oravi to Savonlinna city center at approximately 15:00 PM.
Guests should bring weather-appropriate clothing, a water bottle, and snacks if desired.
